Meet Gillian Van Wyk
Gillian has been happily married for 30 years. She is a devoted mother of four children and a proud grandmother of two. Her passion for working with children and families led her to get a teaching degree. After the birth of her second child she gave up her teaching career to be a stay home mom. Her motherhood journey deepened when God called her to homeschool her children.
Her oldest three children were all natural hospital births. Her fourth birth was a waterbirth supported by a midwife. It was only during her pregnancy with her fourth baby that she was introduced to the concept and role of a doula. Her personal journey through motherhood has given her deep insight into the emotional, physical, and spiritual experiences that accompany pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Each of her births contributed to her understanding, but it was the experience of welcoming her fourth child that ultimately shaped her path.
Inspired by her birth experience she began learning about birth work and the impact a labor Doula has on birth experiences. What began as a moment of discovery evolved into a clear purpose, leading her to pursue professional training with ProDoula and step into her career as a labor Doula.
In her free time Gillian volunteers with wildlife rescue groups. She enjoys being outside, mountain biking, and spins to stay fit. Her hobbies include knitting and reading.
Today, she combines her formal training with her lived experience as both a mother and grandmother to provide thoughtful, compassionate care to the families she serves. She is committed to creating a supportive and empowering environment where clients feel heard, respected, and confident in their birth journey. For her, being a doula is not simply a profession, it is a calling grounded in her own life experiences, faith, and a deep passion for helping others welcome new life with strength and confidence.
Gillian is based out of Marietta in Cobb County and provides birth support to clients who live within an hour of Marietta. She partners with Crystal Hendrix for Birth Doula Support.
Gillian is a ProDoula Certified Labor Doula.
